驚きの文化 surprising culture

カナダに引っ越して約2年が経ったけど文化面での新鮮なことはまだまだ絶えない。

今朝ドライブスルーで注文したものを払おうとしたら、前の車が私たちの注文した分を払ってくれていた。そして私の彼氏は、私らの後ろの車の会計を払った。

彼は「僕はね、人が人を想い合っているっていうのをみんなに分かって欲しいんだ。他人をも大事に想えるって素敵じゃない？これが世界に広まれば、きっと争いはなくなるよ。」という。

日本では中々ない光景だ。人に奢るっていうのはあることだけども、奢ると言わずに人の分の会計をしてその行為が繋がっていくということに私は驚愕した。と、同時に素敵なことだな、とも思った。少なくとも彼らは自己利益のことだけを考えていない。それはこの件だけでなく生活していて彼らの行動や言動の端々からよく感じることだ。

じゃあもっと高いの注文しとけば良かったね、30ドルぐらい。って彼氏に言ったら、それは誰もさすがに払ってくれないでしょ、と言われた。

Although it's been almost 2 years that I started living in Canada, it still makes me surprised especially cultural aspect. This morning we went to get some coffee at the drive through and the car infront of us paid our fee and my boyfriend paid the fee for someone behind us. He said "It's really amazing and sweet when people care about each other even if we've never met and talked right? If it spreads all around the world, there would be no fight. "In Japan we have a culture to treat dinner each other but we never pay for someone unknown and do the same thing for another unknown waiting behind us. I definitely had curiosity why they do those things and also thought it's amazing at the same.I said, oh guess what I should've ordered more expensive stuff... haha.. and he said, they won't pay it if it's too expensive!My cheap thought reminds me of where I'm from!!
